BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!

It's official - Mary is headed back to school to complete her Masters of Counseling Psychology, which means Beyond Bubbles will be closing permanently! Our final day of operation will be October 29th. If you haven't had a chance to tour with us yet, now is the time!

Also, for anyone who still has an active gift certificate, please USE IT! We've been sending emails out since April to all gift certificate purchasers urging them to use their gift certificates and most have, but there are still a few out there! If you know of someone with a gift certificate, please let them know they need to book a tour ASAP.

As of now, it's looking like this will be a permanent closure, but we are open to selling if anyone out there is interested. Email mary@beyondbubbles.ca for info.

This was a difficult decision, but Mary has always planned on completing her Master's and now seemed like the time to do it.

Napa was amazing! But would we recommend you go? Read on for our take on this incredibly popular wine region and how we think BC compares....

Napa & Sonoma have been on our bucket list for a while now and we really had an amazing time, but our main takeaway after exploring these regions? BC is just as good, maybe even better 😆

We thought we had a pretty healthy budget for wine tastings - roughly $1100CAD for two of us. We ended up going slightly over budget and visited 10 wineries. Yes. TEN. For over $1100. Ouch 😮‍💨

Napa is EXPENSIVE. Tastings average about $40-60 USD per person. And no, it isn't any different than a tasting you'd receive in BC. Typically the tasting menu was pre-determined and the associate would walk you through 4 or 5 wines. We found the explanations given to be quite simplistic and to get any additional information about the wineries or wines, we had to ask. Even at the oldest winery in Napa, we had to ask about the history before leaving - no stories were offered. You'd have to book a winery tour for that it seems.

We also learned that few wineries allowed shared tastings. If you both want to taste, you both have to pay. In BC, most wineries are happy to pour a single tasting and have you and your S.O. taste from the same glass (which is perfect when one of you has to drive). This was not the case in Napa.

If we did it over again, we would probably choose to visit a couple less wineries and pay more for winery tastings with TOURS. We opted for a cave tour at Schramsberg, which was probably the best winery experience we had on the trip. At $90 USD per person, it seemed incredibly expensive, but the experience was significantly better than that of a regular tasting, especially for wine geeks like us. We want all the info and all the history, and we got it from this tour. If you're looking for an experience rather than drinking as much wine as you can afford, definitely consider visiting fewer wineries so you can book the more expensive tours.
